Finding the MAC Address for Cisco Desk Phones
Purpose of this Document
The MAC (media access control) address will be required when submitting a support request for problems with your Cisco desk phone. This is a 12-character alphanumeric code. There are two ways that the MAC address can be obtained:
- Through the phone menu
- Decal on bottom/back of the phone
This document will detail both procedures to find the MAC address of your Cisco desk phone.
Procedure One – Through the Phone Menu
The settings button is located at the bottom right corner of the standard Cisco 7941-7985 phone however, it may be located in a different area if you are using a different model phone.

Once you are in your settings menu, you should be able to see the Network Configuration setting listed at number 2 of the menu. Use the blue up and down arrows to move to the Network Configuration selection and then press the button for Select.

Once in the Network Configuration window, you will see the 16-character alphanumeric MAC address of your phone displayed. Document this address for input into your support ticket. Once you have done this, you can click on the Exit button twice to close your settings menu.

NOTE – If you are asked for your IP address, Select IPv4 Configuration from the list above. You will see the IP address displayed as the number 2 listing.
7821 Phones
On the front of the phone, press the Application button.
Using the Navigation Ring, scroll to the Phone Information menu and press the center button in the ring.
You will see the 16-character alphanumeric MAC address of your phone displayed along with the IP address, if required. Document this address for input into your support ticket. Once you have done this, you can click on the Exit button twice to close your settings menu.
Procedure Two – Decal on Bottom/Back of Phone
On the standard Cisco 7941-7985, the MAC address can be found on a decal on the lower back portion of the phone. It should be a 12-character alphanumeric string, as shown in the example below.
On Cisco 7821 phones, this decal is located in the lower right-hand corner, at the bottom of the phone.
