Technology Tracking System - Return Instructions
Purpose of this Document
This document provides instructions on returning JPS assets in the Technology Tracking System.
Procedure
1. On a computer connected to the JPS network, open a web browser and browse to https://technologytracking.jpschools.org.
2. The following page will appear:
3. Log in with your Gmail credentials.
4. Upon login, you will see this page:
5. Click on the Return tab.
6. You will see this page:
7. Click on the pulldown next to School and choose the school in which the asset belongs. This selection only needs to be made once.
8. Find the JP tag and serial number (DST) on the JP tag on Chromebooks and laptops, or the IMEI number on a hotspot box. For laptops and Chromebooks, JP Tag appears as below:
9. Click on the blank field under DST (Serial Number). Enter the DST/Serial Number or use a scanner to scan the barcode.
Entering a DST/Serial Number will automatically fill in the matching JP Tag number for Chromebooks assigned to the school if the JP Tag number is available in the system.
Laptop JP Tags must be entered or scanned. The reverse works as well for Chromebooks - If you enter or scan a JP Tag number that is already in the system, it will automatically fill out the DST (Serial Number) field.
If returning a hotspot, find the IMEI number on the box; this will be the serial number.
10. When the DST/Serial Number is recognized, it will automatically fill out the information recorded for this device, including JP Tag, condition when checked out, comments, all Student ID information and all Guardian information.
11. Thoroughly examine the condition of the returned device and power adapter/charger.
12. Power the device on and ensure it connects to the JPS Internet.
13. If returning a laptop or Chromebook, log in the device with your @jpschools account username and password.
14. Fill out the remaining fields, noting the condition of the equipment when issued to the student.
15. If the device or adapter is returned in poor condition, document the problems in a manner like the example below:
16. When the device information has been entered and double-checked, click on the Return button at the bottom of the form.
17. The return will be completed, and you will receive the following popup:
18. Click on the OK button to close the Return Recorded window. This will clear the form for the next check in.
