Using the Handheld Scanner
Scanning bar codes is a great and easy way to reduce human error and speed up data entry tasks. Scanners work with most computer programs, including Jefferson Parish Schools Technology Tracking System.
1. If you have an asset that needs to be checked out, locate the DST on the Jefferson Parish Schools asset tag.

2. In the tracking system checkout page, set your cursor in the Serial/IMEI field.
3. Position the scan end of the handheld barcode scanner within 1.5 inches above the barcode and press and hold the trigger. Put the projected red scan line over the DST barcode as shown below.

4. When the barcode has been scanned, the scanner will emit a beep. You will now see your scanned data in the Serial/IMEI field (as shown below).
5. Now scan the JP Tag number by placing the cursor in the JP Tag field and scanning the JP Tag barcode.
If there is an issue with the handheld scanner or computer USB port, please submit a Help Desk Request for Technology at this link.
